Vilma Vega, M.D.

Dr. Vilma Vega is a board-certified infectious disease physician and HIV specialist with more than 35 years of experience in clinical care, research, and biopharmaceutical leadership. She currently serves as Head of U.S. Patient Affairs at ViiV Healthcare (GSK), where she is dedicated to advancing patient-centered approaches in HIV care.

An internationally recognized speaker, Dr. Vega has delivered keynote presentations across the United States, Africa, Asia, and Latin America on topics including infectious diseases, global health, missions, and faith. She is also a trusted media contributor and frequently provides expert commentary on public health issues.

In addition to her corporate leadership, Dr. Vega is the co-founder of Hearts Afire Inc., a nonprofit organization, which has advanced global health through mission outreach in 12 countries, with a focus on sustainable projects, economic development, healthcare, disease prevention, and spiritual support. Hearts Afire has also built a fully-operational hospital in Eldoret, Kenya.

A native of Peru and fluent in Spanish, Dr. Vega brings a global perspective and deep commitment to service, innovation, and health equity.

Dr. Vega received her medical degree from the University of Illinois and completed her infectious disease training at Jackson Memorial Hospital/University of Miami. She also holds a Bachelor of Ministry degree and has been recognized with the Frist Humanitarian Award for her global humanitarian contributions.
